“Brownies Earn Extra Brownie Points Learning Life-Saving Skills!”

This week, Penicuik Brownies members, aged between 7 and 10 years old, took their first steps towards becoming real-life superheroes! Penicuik Community First Responders (PCFR) visited the group to teach vital life-saving skills, and there was plenty of laughter, learning, and a few very large soft toys involved.
The session introduced the Brownies to the basics of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) in a fun and accessible way. Using their biggest, fluffiest teddies and soft toys, the young girls practised how to check for responsiveness, call for help, and give chest compressions. It was a brilliant way to make a serious skill memorable and enjoyable.
The PCFR team were impressed by how enthusiastic and capable the girls were. Many of them asked thoughtful questions about emergencies and how they could help someone in trouble. By the end of the evening, every Brownie had learned that even the smallest person can make a big difference.
A huge thank you to Penicuik Brownies for welcoming us, and to their leaders for supporting this hands-on learning experience. Community events like this help inspire the next generation of first responders and who knows, maybe a future paramedic or two!
Well done, Penicuik Brownies! You've made your community proud.
